Packard Bell Easynote E6310 shutdown problem.
Hi all,
I've been looking at a laptop for a friend, its an PB Easynote E6310 and it has started randomly shutting down. I was told it got really hot so the owner cleaned all the dust etc out of the fan area. But now it will only last a few minutes before shutting down. And then its even quicker going down to a few seconds.
I had a look at the fan and cleaned the rest of the compound off and put some fresh on, didn't help. I removed the the two mem sticks and tried one at a time, removed the hard drive and ran a live cd of linux, didn't help. Removed the DVD drive just to rule it out but it still shuts down. It will shut down in the bios too. Removed the battery but still the same and tried a different psu to rule that out too. I'm stumped as too what it could be I have ran out of ideas to what it could be.
When it does shut down in the time it takes to unscrew the heatsink the cpu is not that warm to touch. If after shutdown i leave for a minute it'll only take 10 to 15 seconds to shutdown again. I can't see that the cpu is overheating.
Specs
Sempron mobile 3000
512Mb (2*256@333)
50Gb HD
DVD RW
Thanks if anyone can offer some help on this because i'm stuck.
Will

Thanks for the extensive response, it's much appreciated! I'm definitely going to look at all these options. Do you think the prices of the 660, 660ti or 7870 will drop when the new cards come out?
