    Overclocking a laptop?

     
    hey, i have a 2ghz c2d and i wuz wondering if overclocking a laptop is a good idea, say to 2.2ghz?

    I doubt the laptops bios is setup to allow overclocking. Also, heat would be an issue, even with a slight overclock like what you are looking for. Heck, going from 2 to 2.2ghz you probably wouldn't even notice a difference.

    nicks right on all points. added heat is one of the number one killers of Laptops, so its usually recommended not to OC those things. they may have some basic OCing options in the bios, but I wouldn't bother trying, especially if going from 2 to 2.2, the extra added heat, and battery drain wouldn't be worth it. at least in my opinion, unless I had the money to burn and buy new one if it should happen to die sooner than expected due to the heat issue.

    if you were living in Alaska or somewhere I doubt it would be much of an issue, but even for us up here in Minnesota LOL, its likely not recommended to do. especially during out summers up here LOL, Nick knows what i'm talking about.
