Is the Acer Aspire 5738 any good? Pls help!
Hi people,
I just ordered an Acer Aspire 5738 from Play.com
Play.com (UK) : Acer Aspire 5738 / Core 2 Duo T6400 2GHz / 4GB / 500GB / DVD-SM / 15.6" / Vista Home Premium / Laptop / Notebook (LX.PAJ0X.172) : Computing - Free Delivery
It was a spur of the moment decision but now I am wondering whether it will be enough for me. I dont play any games on my laptop so am not too worried that it has an integrated graphics chipset (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD). But will I be able to play movies, DVDs, HD TVS and downloaded TV shows (like Heroes in .mkv Hi Def) format with this graphics chipset? Also the only game I may play will be Final Fantasy 7/8 for PC which is pretty old. Do you think the laptop graphics can handle it?
And finally I cant anywhere the max resolution the Intel Chipset will support. The screen itself is 1366x768. Is this ok for a 15.6" screen. I would want to connect it via HDMI to my 32" TV and watch those downloaded shows like Heroes etc on it. Would I be able to do that properly with this graphics card?
If I cant then my other alternative would be to find a similar laptop with a dedicated graphics card but it seems pointless seeing as I have no need for games on my PC.
Thanks for any help ppl!!
PS. Say that the GMA 4500 can handle movies in Hi Def - will it cause a big drain on system resources doing so?Last edited by raiyanb; November 29th, 2009 at 04:03 PM.

Afraid not everyone will catch it the first (or even second time).
It will be fine for what you are wanting....
(also good choice on the games.
