Looking for a recomendation.

What's a decent laptop with preferably Core2 Duo CPU, 3-4 Gbs., and either XPpro or Win7 preferably Pro, although Home Premium is more likely ?

The size of the hard drive is not all that important -- about 160 GB would do fine as I can off-load whatever I don't need to carry.

I have a 10" netbook and also and olde IBM X40 12" and a DellLatitude 12" with a seperate docking/media slab. Both of these require a portable external DVD/CDRW, which I have. Both weigh 3 lbs, without power adapter and use XPpro. Also, a modern SONY 16+" weighing 6lbs.

I'd like to have a light-weight (around 4lbs without adapter) real laptop computer i.e. not an ATOM=powered netbook.

The DELL Adamo, Toshiba Portege and some other 12" laptops don't have an optical drive, or in the case of the portege the one with an optical drive is very expensive. I won't buy a Lenova notebook.

In fact all the sub-4lb laptops with optical I've seen are very expensive.

The ACER Timeline series, I believe includes a 14" laptop with optical and about 4.5 lbs around $600, but uses a single core low-powered ultra low voltage (ULV) CPU.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

I tend to do several things at a time so I think a dual core would serve me better.
AMD is alright, but preferably the II series CPU because it is made from a 45nm rather than 65nanometer wafer and runs cooler and better..
