Broken HP dv7-1232nr

Hi all, I bought this HP on Feb 09 it died 1 year and 6 days later, it starts booting and then has a blinking light which Hp says is a motherboard issue and Staples says could be a prob with the built in video. they want $320 to repair it. I wont spend it . just live with out it.

Does HP havethese kinda problems alot ? And is this thing worth anything dead like this? Thanks for any replys or suggestions.

An update on this thing. A buddy of mine took a look at an had it up an running in an hour, he said he had to reinstall the OS. And that the battery was bad ,need a new one and that it was some kinda over or under voltage problem. May have been caused by my using small inverters when I was driving a big truck.
