Righty a couple of weeks ago i replaced my p3 500 for a sony GRX316MP. I know i could of bought 2 desktops for the same price but its the entire portability thing that I'm after since space at uni is limited (plus its cool being able to watch a DVD on the train).
Why did I buy so high a spec?? basically It is a replacement of my desktop and playing games was a must, choice of decent graphix cards for Laptops are limited and it came to either the radeon 7500 or the G-force 4 MX. Since the 7500 performs better than the 440 i chose the sony.
What I am disapointed is the lack of tweaking that one can do on the sony bios options are almost non existant! does anyone out there have any tips for tuning your laptop to get the most out of it?
tweaking laptops is hard to do in the 1st place. I on the other hand went Geforce 440 with Dell...i've been trying to tweak this one too. Beyond stuff in the os...the bios is almost nonexistant. Very little to do in there. If you find anything let me know I know I don't have the same laptop but maybe some ideas for tweaks will be similar

I have found some little bits. firstly (i know its simple but hey!) my P4m will underclock itself when running off battery to save on power. Just set up your powermanagement to make sure.
Secondly (and i know this is a different card) I found some 3rd party drivers for the 7500 (ATI don't do notebook drivers for their mobility range). there are programs out there that will let you tweak your card just how you want it, opening up hundreds of Dx options and open GL.
Yep bios non existant, I can change the time on it lol thats it. Of course i would be expecting things like AGP and SCSI to be missing from bios but this is just plain dissapointing.
