    Question Asus G60VX-RBBX05

Hi, New to the forums was referred here by a friend. I was wondering if anyone knew if you could update the Asus G60VX-RBBX05, Processor, I noticed there are a few models of this laptop some with the 2.8GHz Processor and others with the 2.13 aka P7450. I have been searching around mainly because they have discontinued my model. I mean this laptop runs great and I really do not want to buy a whole new one anytime soon, So if someone could shed some light on this project and possibly where I may be able to buy one compatible I would be grateful again thanks for having me I hope to get to know you all very soon

    Current Laptop Specifications:
    Model / Make: Asus G60VX-RBBX05 (With Gear4Power I can get to 2.5GHz)
    Processor: P7450, 2.13GHz
    Ram / Memory: 4GB
    HDD: 300GB, 7200RPM
GFX: Nvidia GTX 260M 1GB dedicated.

Also my max screen resolution is only 1366x768, For the GTX260M this seems a bit low, Any thoughts?

Well after spending about 5sec on google I found a similar posting via the ASUS forums which provides a ton of good insight. The CPU support list is here http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=8BN4bwL9v1h2OZIZ.

You might be able to upgrade to any of the chips listed. Now I say might because upgrading a laptop is not something most users would want to attempt. Generally speaking it's much more involved than upgrading a PC.

The second side of this, is even if you are comfortable adding in the chip the for most uses the cost/performance just isn't going to be worth while.

To answer the second part referring to the resolution, well that's the max the screen supports so um yeah that would be standard. The gtx 260 obviously could run higher on another screen but its limited to what your LCD supports.

Thank you, I knew that this came with different processors in it, So i was wondering if I could swap them out per say i bought one off eBay or from dell and took it to a shop, cause the P7450 just doesn't seem all that hot to me, I mean it runs great I get a 5.9 WMI on 7 64bit but its like lacking. I tried searching google but brought up no definite answer on if the processor was imbeded into the Mb or if it was removable. On a response to what you said to my screen, Is there a place
where I can buy a better LCD for it?

What is lacking? That system even with the 2.1ghz chip should not be lacking anywhere and to be totally honest bumping up a few 100mhz won't show a noticeable difference in most apps.

Swapping out LCDs? If you are talking about swapping the cpu and LCD you are spending way to much money and might as well go out and buy an entirely new system!

as for the LCD i have no idea how to look that up lol but i really love the design and the light up KB If i do buy a new gaming laptop I want one with a GTX 400 series in it. but this one does me fine for now but this laptop when i got was a big thing for me I honestly plan to put a SSD, a new processor if i can and now a lcd into it. I love this thing its just something i dont think anyone is going to understand
