Acer Aspire 5517 power, but no POST

I'm working on a friend's laptop, an Acer Aspire 5517 running Win7 H.P.
When I hit the power button, I get a power light and a few other lights as well as the fan spinning up for a few seconds, then everything abruptly shuts off.
The power supply is spitting out 19 VDC (correct voltage) and I'm reading voltage at various points on the motherboard. I have tried with everything removed and still have the same response.
The laptop is currently fully disassembled (following acer's guide) and I have been trying minimal combinations to try and get a POST, with no luck.
Ideas? I think the mobo might have gone, but I'm not sure.

UPDATE: further testing and a lack of time moved the decision toward junking the laptop. Thanks anyway.
