which laptop is the better buy?
Im trying to decide between these two gaming laptops: Newegg.com - TOSHIBA Qosmio X775-Q7272 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 6GB Memory DDR3 1333 2 x 500GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M
What do y'all think?

I pick the third one!
LOL!
No seriously ... what are we using it for? Are we a mobile workforce warrior that needs mobility over general component power??? Do you need to be a multimedia maven and blue ray is the crutch?

No we need to be a gaming god that likes speed in applications also. I don't care about blu ray.. just gaming and other multimedia apps.
hey if you want to suggest a third option, please do!

Can't seem to get the pages to load (someone needs to light a fire under newegg's ass and get these loading/connection issues hammered out once & for all). Its not my end, as I can access Newegg's main page directly from the shortcut bar in Firefox and loads right away, but the direct page link for the items loads and loads and loads and loads.... you get the point.
Anyways, based off the specs/info for the 2 URL links shown, I'd say the Toshiba is the one to get, but I can't see what the pricing difference is.
If the Mobile 460 and 560 are anything like their desktop counterparts, then the 560 would be a bit faster than the 460, but both based on the same GPU Core (the 500 series based on a revised and faster version of the 400's).
Shows the Toshiba with 2x500GB 7200RPM drives, I'm assuming these are RAID 0, and not RAID 1, if so, load times and what not should be faster than a single 500GB Drive, plus you have 1TB total drive space, but poor redundancy (actually none) if one of the 2 drives goes bad, so if you got this one, I'd definitely see about getting an External USB 2.0 drive to back up important stuff to.
CPU & RAM wise, their both the same.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

The dell has everything you need, but the GPU Processing power for games (depending on the games and settings their run at), looks like the Quadro 2000M is more closer to a Geforce GTS 450 as far as Shader cores and specs go. Still a good lower mid range, upper Budget range GPU, but depending on the games run, might be fine, or might still choke.

That dell is a little over my budget! Id like to stay around 1 grand and less than 1400.
The toshiba is 1250 and the other is 1119, btw shyguy

thanks for listing the prices.
yeah, with that little of price difference, the Toshiba would be my choice, larger screen, double the drive space, and theoretically double the read/write times if its in RAID 0, a bit more powerful GPU. For that $130 difference, it'd be worth it IMO.
My only concerns would be Warranty, and Power consumption of the battery, which I would gather with either one, wouldn't be that long, and would consider grabbing a 2nd battery, or if they offer a larger sized battery to use with it for longer mobile run time.
Myself I wouldn't mind that Dell, with the Quadro, and faster Quad core, but the price is a deal breaker for me too (not that I can even afford a laptop right now, even a budget one).
Oh, wait, price of that Dell can be dropped considerably (click the Customize link at the bottom of the page), that link shows it with the top end Quad core already in it, the 2 other Quads are lesser, but also more powerful than the one in the Toshiba/Asus above. Still price is well over $1400, but does drop it considerably.
Though the dell is a workstation lappy, and not really a gaming laptop.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Picked it because it had the fastest quad available. There are other quads available on the dell site, and some that may even be in the price range. I wouldnt stick to just one place for shopping for your laptop. You may want to try and find a retailer that has one on display so you can see, feel and hear what it is like. You may find that the keyboard layout is not to your liking, etc.

I'd go with the Dell. They are more reliable with better support if needed.
