Guys im in need of a new laptop with a budget of max $1200.
Screen size does not matter, i want a long lasting computer with good battery lifewhile not gaming.)
lots and lots of gaming, so good gpu and lots of ram and memory (games may include COD: black ops (MW3), WoW, and Fifa12)
also be doing lots of internet browsing and microsoft office
(college student)
the options i have now are:
apple option:
MacBook Pro 13.3 inch
$1200
alienware option:
Alienware m14x

The 13-inch macbook pros only come with integrated graphics (intel hd 3000). Although the second gen core series offer better integrated graphics than the previous gen it still won't touch the power of the GeForce GT 555M that comes in the alienware so my advice would be to forget the mac. The 13inch macbook pros are not meant for gaming, you could get away with running those games on the mac but you would need to put all your settings on low and even then it might get choppy, with the 555m you can crank those to high with no problems.
Edit: Check out ASUS, they make great gaming laptops.

Agreed. Asus has some really nice models that will blow Mac's out of the water hardware wise.
Newegg.com - ASUS G53 Series G53SX-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
And if you can go $100 over your budget, this is a better model:
Newegg.com - ASUS G53 Series G53SX-A1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 12GB Memory DDR3 1333 750GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
Either of those will handle most games on high settings.Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

i understand this what you are saying, but one thing really important about the macbook pro is that it lasts for 5 years with almost the same quality, of course a bit more run over and what nut.. while most pc laptops over used after five years are slow, and you can really see how its been w.ared off.. so, im worried about that too
well what i mean actually is that i dont want one that is specifically only for gaming, that it supports gaming on normal settings, but aswell has long duration, and is not only focused on gamingLast edited by adrumm; September 25th, 2011 at 03:56 PM.

PC laptops can easily last 5 years. I worked in the IT dept at a hospital and they still use dells with p4's from like 2003... It all depends on how you treat them - these laptops have even been abused and are still well. If things get slow over time you can usually just wipe. Also upgrading macbooks is a royal pain in the ass and you usually have to send it off to apple to do simple stuff like adding ram and they charge you up the * * *. With a pc laptop you can easily go buy ram from your closest computer store, pop off the bottom and plug it in - that easy.
