New laptop for £350, any suggestions?
My friends thinking of getting a new laptop, want to spend around £350.
Any suggestions, it will be used for all round things, but want it to be quick and run smoothly. I will not be gaming on it however.
Thanks

Just so everyone knows UK£ 350 = 548.66 U.S. dollars
Have you, or your friend, looked around at any sites to get a feel for what they are looking for? Any particular size? Things you specifically want?
Not being from the UK and not knowing a bunch of sites to visit I hit one and found what would be a pretty decent deal matching your budget.

You can look around and check that out. At your price point there aren't a ton of options. If you see something else that you like or think is a better deal then link it and ask specifics but from a quick glance that looks like one of the better buys.
I wouldn't link something I wouldn't buy for myself. I've had hands on several of the ASUS laptops and they are pretty nice units. This is the lower end for them, as it would be for anyone, but they still seem to have decent quality in their low end builds. Also whats yours opinion on Asus, know they do decent hardware but what about laptops.

Their decent quality, but like most brands have a lot of bloatware installed on them, you may want to uninstall if you get one.
Normally I don't like recommending Asus Graphics cards or Motherboards, but most of their other products I don't mind, and work pretty well, Sound Cards, Displays, Laptops/netbooks...
My Mom has an Asus Netbook, Intel Atom Dual Core, 250GB HDD, etc, also have an Asus USB DVD ROM/Burner for it as well, both have been pretty good quality for the last 2 years. though I hate the smallish screen/resolution of the Netbook, and the tiny keyboard and touchpad, but the quality is good IMO.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green
