Samsung NP300E5A-A05US vs NP300E5A-A05US ? (or other inexpensive)
Hello, i am looking for an inexpensive laptop for general use.
Might play a game or two on occasion but nothing serious.
(simcity if/maybe they come out with a new one [i should check if a new one is out eh])
Mostly will be for putting on my lap, browsing the internet, paying bills, ordering pizza; stuff like that.
I also just need/want to get acquainted with windows7, windows8 too.....
(i do some mild computer work at work [hvac stuff] and sooner or later will have to move on from XP; some graphics programs on occasion, nothing mind blowing, just web page creation stuff really [niagara and other stuff].)
Which of these laptops should i get?
Samsung NP300E5A-A05US vs NP300E5A-A05US ? (or other inexpensive)
Or should i get something totally different?
My old laptop (compaq something or other with XP) gave up the ghost for the most part, it overheats (always had but always gets worse) and now the charger is dead; i don't see it being worth saving. So just about any laptop will be an upgrade. I'd like a computer that runs cool and isn't expensive; and if it can run win8 that would be a plus. Will either of these be okay with win8? [is win8 going to require more resources/performance or anything?]
I figured I3 processor would be a decent start... don't know how amd's compare or what would be comparable, etc.
Thanks.I'm a noobile.

Well for starters what you listed is the same exact product numbers? Do you have links to what you are looking at?
What is your price range?

Samsung NP300E5A-A05US vs Acer Aspire AS5733-6426? (or other inexpensive)
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5733-6426 Notebook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics
Samsung - 15.6" Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Silver - NP300E5A-A05US
I'd like to keep it under $400. If i go over then i go over; just don't see any reason to go crazy on a laptop. But i would like something that will last a couple years until the next new laptop.
(I have been attempting to use ipad2 for everything i usually use laptop for; but it just isn't cutting it for me.)Last edited by whanso1; September 11th, 2012 at 05:25 PM.

Out of the 2 you linked to, I would go for the Samsung. It has a slightly faster CPU, 2x the RAM, a decent mobile GPU, 2x the HDD space that's slightly faster. It's clearly the better option of the 2 you linked to.
One tip, if you do end up purchasing through Best Buy, DO NOT PAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL WARRANTY!
They are a rip off and a joke. Samsung covers that model for one year, and if you call in they will expand that for a minimum fee, compared to the joke that is Best Buy's warranty.Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

LOL now you linked the wrong Samsung I see you edited it now), but just comparing the Samsung NP300E5A-A05US vs Acer Aspire AS5733-6426 the Samsung would be the better buy. You get a newer CPU that should run a bit better faster and a bit cooler. Personally I also like Samsungs build quality a bit more than the Acers.
A third option at BB is the ASUS K7, it as an AMD A8 which should give you pretty good performance when compared to the i3

AMD A-Series A8-4500M Notebook Processor - Notebookcheck.net Tech
However the onboard/on CPU graphics is superior by far, over Intel's.In terms of raw general performance, the A8-4500M performs similar to the Llano-based A8-3500M. Single-threaded workloads can especially benefit from the new architecture and the updated Turbo Core functionality. If compared to Intels Core-i3-series, the A8-4500M offers less performance in most cases. Nonetheless, CPU performance from the AMD processor should be sufficient for all daily workloads like Office, Internet browsing and even light video editing or gaming.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green
