whats the best deal for 400$? I'm sort of thinking that buying a bare system off ebay and then piecing it together maybe the best solution.
any idea?

$400 for a laptop? If you want anything decent I don't think you can get one for $400.

eyi | Piecing it together? I don't think so. won't get much of a laptop for 400 bucks, best spend better money with warrenties on the laptop that will last you a good couple years. |

im not talking top of the line here. PII 300, 128 mb of ram, 5 gb hdd. i dont mind if the screen is small either, 8" is more then enough.
