| Has anyone rebuilt their laptop battery pack?
I just took apart my older laptop's battery pack, looked up the cell types, and ordered replacement cells. If I can get this to work, it'll have only costed me $33.00 + 6.50 s/h. I wasn't about to pay $150.00 - 200.00 for a replacement unit if I could do it myself.
Has anyone else done this? I'm curious to hear what you have to say about doing this. There seems to be NO information on the internet about doing so. Only services that will do this for you.
Thanks,

Hey, that sounds like an awesome DIY project, especially if you have an older laptop, or bought an used one... Can you give a more detailed explanation on how you were able to do this? I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what you come up with... Good luck!

The most I have done with mine is added ram and changed Harddrives. The hard drive changing is not as easy as it sounds. I have a sony vaio and I had to take off the cover with the power button to remove the keyboard to then remove the hard drive chasis. Not a very good design for maintainance.

Well, I found a great site for ordering replacement cells. They have a chart that shows battery sizes and types - that'll help you identify what type you need. The pack that I'm going to rebuild has some do-dads that read the voltage and temperature, and can be programmed. Here's a pic that links to a site with more info:
batterystation.com is arranging them in this pattern with tabs connecting them together - for an additional $5.00. All I gotta do is connect a couple wires and charge the thing up! I'm crossing my fingers, though... never done anything like this before. I'll let y'all know what happens. It'll probably be a couple weeks.
