Hooking laptop to cell phone
I live in a area without a local ISP. I have a cell phone with unlimited night min. Is there a way to hook up to the internet though my cell phone? If so what is it called and where could i find it.

What brand of phone you have?
If you have nokia data enabled phone get a data package from the mobile operator and you're ready to go. You can go either bluetooth, ir or cable with the phone.
I have nokia 6210 and dlr-3p cable that goes to the com port. With high speed data enabled the speed of the connection is rated at 43.2.
If you do not have a data enabled phone, you need to get some pcmcia card that does the modem thingie.
But the most important thing is to have the mobile operator enable data calls, and to be sure your cellphone is capable of doing those.

Snug,
If you have Sprint PCS coverage in your area, you might be in luck. I picked up a LG 5350 third generation cell phone, bought the USB cable and now I am surfing at 144 kbps. Actually I tend to get a bit higher due to compression. $50/month for 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends and unlimited data is a real good deal. While connected for data there are no airtime charges so you can use it as your internet connection all the time. The other cool thing is the phone can be connected to the USB cable and sit on the charger so no battery discharge problems.

Whoa... That's cool. I would have gotten Sprint PCS over AT&T had I known that... but then again coverage sucks bad around here.

Cody,
You are right. If you do not live in a mjor city or near an interstate, Sprint's coverage can be spotty.

WHOA and then I see the price of the phone and am content with what I have

PS: It seems odd to me that you can get decent cell phone coverage in an area, but no ISP?
Anywhoo,
Cody
