NVIDIA GeForce4 4200_Go

Man, technological advancement is a bitch. Up untill yesterday I was happy and sure that I was getting the top of the line notebook graphics with the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000. Now this damn NVIDIA GeForce4 4200_Go is out and its WAY WAY WAY better than the ATI9000. And to make things worse, I dont think sager will offer this chip.

Yup that's how it goes. No point in waiting for something better because there will always be something better. The geforce4 4200 go probably won't be in machines until next year...jan/feb my guess. A month or so later ATI will answer with their m10 (1st quarter) ...and so on and so on.

no idea...I'm mearly quoting referencing a review from THG in which a winbook rep makes the following claim:

"We are making some additional enhancements that will be available in the production J4 3.06 GHz version. This will include a 125 Watt power supply, 3.06 GHz Pentium 4 with HyperThreading, 333 MHz DDR SDRAM and ATI's next GPU - code named 'M10' - for performance even more awe-inspiring than the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000." Look for these to debut when ATI launches the M10. (We estimate this be as soon as Q1 of 2003.)

yeah, but in the same article they also state the following:

"First off is the heat and power consumption that stems off the fact that the GeForce4 4200 Go is based off the NV28 core. The fact that NVIDIA would not comment on the maximum power that the chip draws suggests that the chip draws an insane amount of power while in full performance mode. It does not matter much while the system is plugged in, but using the chip to its full potential away from a power outlet will probably drain your battery pretty darn fast."

i would say: htis is a MAJOR drawback, isnt it?
i will be happy with a ati9000, plus itīs already available.

Anyone have any clue which GPU is better the NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go or the ATI Radeon Mobility (M10). I checked out www.anandtech.com review and NVIDA website but no idea about ATI (M10). These two graphic card will be release in the beginning 2003. I cant wait. I was so close of buying a laptop but soon as I heard that ATI and NVIDIA just announced they having the new card, I was shocked. I prefer NVIDIA over ATI. Geforce has more memory bandwidth for more smooth gaming than ATI. I do like ATI cause it cheaper. That is the big different in both company graphic cards is prices.
