I have toshiba Satelite 1400-5151 I love it. only two things I don't like about it is the battery and the way it latches. latches in the middle rather on both sides. I don't care for the XP Pro either. Altho didn't have much choice was eithe rthat or the home version which I did not want. wanted 2kpro on it. oh well other than that I am very happy with it.

After an "incident" at work last year, we bought all dell laptops.. I think around 3000

Very nice laptops, not great for games.. but hey.. they're work laptops
not that.. I've ever tried to put a game on one
small HD's are my biggest complaint
only 10 gigs

I own 3 Sager's and can only sing praises about Sager. Nah, I better not sing but just leave it at price, performance, and RMA - Sager has done me great. I've had mostly Toshiba's with a few ComPost's thrown in here and there over the past 10 years and I'll forfiet the name brands for the company that can cater to my needs (albeit in broken english
).
Just my saved $1000 worth (towards beer
).

Compaq
It's 90 days old and in the shop for a blown up motherboard. I have had to send it to Compaq twice because the first time they didn't even fix it. Compaq has to have the worst service of any OEM, and I heartily do not recommend them.

I have two Compaqs, two Dells, and one IBM. The IBM is the oldest of the five, but the best by far!

I like the size my Dell Latitude, big enough to type easily (for someone with ten thumbs) and two media bays, but I hate the size, too heavy and bulky.
Can't someone make a laptop with a full size keyboard that will fit in your shirt pocket? Spoiled, aren't I?

Dell Inspiron here, it was a finders keepers in my company's storage facility that is going away. I got Slackware running on it and it runs just about as fast as my pc at my desk.
