| Sager 5660 vs Sager 5650
After all this debate of the desktop chip versus the mobile chip, what would your guys impressions be of the mobile chip version of the 56XX series? I'm going to be making a purchase in the next month or so, and I'm researching now. The only things that draws me away from the Sager, is the LCD screen and the battery life. 5650 is the mobile version, so what would one expect the lifespan of that unit be? |

Ok, here's another question. I've seen on another reseller (Eurocom) website that they are offering a miniPCI card for WiFi for the 56XX series. This would be ideal, since I don't want to use up the only PCMCIA slot with a WiFi card. The Cleo website says there's a "Wireless Module" available for the the 56XX. I'm thinking that this is the miniPCI card. |

With the 5650 you will have the Radeon 7500 instead of the Radeon 9000 in the 5660. The Radeon 9000 doesn't pull much more power believe it or not. The P4-M still uses a lot of power and you may see 15-20 more minutes of battery life per battery. Keep in mind, the 5660 runs at 50% CPU speed when on batteries to save power (can be set not to). So, the difference isn't that huge. For the higher price tag on the mobile processor, many don't feel over all the 5650 is a better choice over the 5660. 5650 vs 5660
Yes, the Clevo models have the mini pci and an optional built in wireless. Some companies you may find offer this, but Sager currently does not. MiniPCI |

Great review PCTorque. I think you have swayed my decision back to the 5660. While tearing the system apart for examination, did you by chance notice where the miniPCI slot was? (And did you happen to take a picture of it?)
From your miniPCI thread, unless theres some kind of antenna I can make, getting the miniPCI WiFi card is a waste of money? |

Without the antenna, I think it would be a waste and installing the antenna I'm told is major surgery if trying to do it after it's assembled. Glad you liked it! |
