A sony is great for mom Martoch, They have that slim model which is LIGHT, and THIN. and stylish =)

The cpu is a p3 something.....

I am a sucker for Sony laptops, they are just so cool.

I love sony

Sister just replaced the compaq above with one with the docking station and loves it but they are a bit pricey.. well... Dell you can customize so get over to http://www.dell.com/us/en/gen/topics...ebook_line.htm and start getting playing around and it will give you prices

as for the other companies... the bigger ones offer the same thing... if you go a Best Buy route you can normally talk them down a little on price and have a bag or surge protector thrown in @ a fraction of the cost and such. They also offer big discounts if you sign up for MSN through them and such. My guess is your looking @ $1K plus or minus $200
