is a 133pentium good enough to play MP3s? someone i know is selling one with a 2gig hd (but NO CD ). i just want something to goof around on and play SNES emulators on. $100 canadian sounds pretty cheap to me.
what kind of ports to i need to make sure it has to add a external cd-rom or something? i think he said i can buy a network card for it for $30 from our local computer store, then could i hook that up to my desktop to load stuff on it from that computer?
its got win95 on there now, how could i network that to load a new OS off my desktops CDrom?
Hrmm excuse the self-bump, but maybe I babbled too much in my post and no one really knew what I was asking.
Q1: Is P133 good enough for MP3s? I could check the WinAMP required specs but I don't trust those.
Q2: Can I network a Win95 notebook to use another computers CDdrive? (Win95 was installed from Floppies 5 years ago lol) I need to install a new OS like NT/2k or at least 98, but not sure if I can do it from another computers CD drive.
Any help would be reeally appreciated since I am thinking about buying this today before someone else does.
I can't answer your networking question but I can tell you that my pentium 166 (thinkpad 760) played mp3's just fine. The speakers built into the laptop are terrible so make sure you have a headphone jack (I'm almost certain it does)
If I were you I would go with 98 as an os. You should also consider keeping a copy of the cab files from the 98 disk on your hard disk so you won't need the disk again.
Oh and it will be perfect for nes/atari emulation.
Nope, never tried SNES emulation. It should run just fine though.
It sounds like a good price for that laptop. Just make sure that the battery lasts for more than a few minutes OR that you can get one fairly cheaply for it.
