| Screen differences? Dell vs. Sager
I'm trying to figure out the differences between the Dell UltraSharp and the Sager UXGA. What makes the Dell UltraSharp so much better? Is it better? I'm trying to get a good side by side comparison but I have never seen a Sager screen face to face before. All my friends have Dells with UltraSharps and I got to say, I don't think i'd like anything that looks worse than the UltraSharps.
Any info would be cool. Thanks! |

I haven't had the pleasure of side by side pics of the Dell vs the Sager LCDs, but I just took some of the powerbook G4 vs the Sager 5660 UXGA HERE
The screen is the best I've ever seen.
By spec, the Dell ultrasharp and the Sager 5660 UXGA both have 400:1 contrast, but the Sager has an 85 degree viewing angle to Dell's 70 degree. |

those are some good comparisons!
is the contrast ratio and viewing angle the only differences? i mean.... IS the dell screen actually sharper than any others?
nobody can seem to tell me what makes its "UltraSharp" as opposed to the normal uxga. |

i think you are needlessly complicating things. AFAIK, sagers are direct-sale, you won't find em in any pc store. secondly, if you've seen other laptops and really like the dell ultrasharps, then get the ultrasharp. trust your own eyes.
are the sager & dells comparable in price? |

yes very comparable. but i have yet too see any screen comparison. i've heard someone say that the only difference from the ultrasharp from the normal uxga is the resolution. i'm not sure if this is true or not. i want to know if there is some other specs that the ultrasharps have that no other screen has. |

I believe it gets its "Ultra" name for 3 main things:
1) 70 degree angle viewing (higher than the typical 45 degrees laptops usually have)
2) 400:1 contrast ratio (twice the 200:1 contrast ratio many laptops have)
3) 180cdm2 brightness (as compared to many laptops have 150)
To compare, the Sager 5660 UXGA has
1) 85 degree viewing angle
2) 400:1 contrast ratio
4) 200cdm2 brightness
So, I guess Sager could call it the Ultra+ :^/ |
