SONY VAIO PCG-GRZ610 System Recovery doesn't work

I need to perform a system recovery on a brandnew SONY VAIO PCG-GRZ610, but it does not accept disk#2.

the set of disk I have:
Sytem Recovery CD#1 labeled UCG173XEUMB5_D1
Application Recovery CD#2 labeled ARCDG173_D2
System Recovery CD#3 UCG173XEUMB5_D3

System Recovery CD's boots from CD#1, goes through the menu, starts rewriting the image. unfortunately after finishing CD#1 it keeps asking for CD#2.

I have tried all possible recovery options, deleting all partitions, reset BIOS defaults.
a copy of disk2 with a different label (UCG173XEUMB5_D2) did not work, also I tried to copy the content form original disk3 with the disk 2 label (UCG173XEUMB5_D2) - no luck.

there is no trouble reading the original disk2 in other computers.

SONY technical support is "not able to authorize warranty replacement of .. System disks via email. You need to call in and have on hand a copy of your bill of sale to expedite service."

unfortunately I am down here in mecixo, and I do not see my self paying for being put on hold for however long this INTERNATIONAL phone call would take.

any advise? I appreciate it! cheers - clau

I have a Sony PCG-GRV680 here for bench testing and though system recovery takes well over an hour, all the CDs work. What I would suggest is getting an OEM Windows CD and loading it manually using the code off the sticker on the bottom of the computer.

first thing I tried was installing windows with the SONY key.

unfortunately the SONY comes with XP HOME and all I have here is a OEM XP PRO or XP UPGRADE, so the SONY key will not work...

PCTORQUE:
are your disks labeled like that
SONY Sytem/Application Recovery CD PCG-GRS700/GRZ600 Series Version G173.0?

cheers all...

There's actually 7 because there's a "Click to DVD Recovery CD" also. I have no idea how many your model should have come with though.
