Whenever I try to hibernate on my new HP pavilion ze5300 series notebook, the system locks up.
I came with XP Home on it, and hibernation worked fine with it, but since I've put my own copy of XP Pro on it, and it locks up right after it starts trying.
Anyone have an idea on a fix?

hmmm... Well, if the comp is new, call up HP tech support I guess. I mean, they might not be able to help, but its worth a try, right? |

I'm under the assumption that either I'll be told they're only going to offer me support while the XP Home I was given is on...or to put it on. |

yup...enabled hibernation...I've tried setting it either way, to press the power button, or shut my lid...both lock up. Though I also am supposed to have a function key to hibernate (Fn+f12)...it doen'st work in XP Pro either...only the XP home they gave me. |

the only other thing I can think of is to check your BIOS settings and make sure they are set right. Besides that mebbe the XP Home Edition you had was modifed to work with your system |

Figured it out...seems it gets stuck in an infinite loop in the network....if I disable my network connection before I try to hibernate...it works fine...which is ridiculous.
Does anyone have a clue on how I might stop it from having a problem with the network there? |
