Hey well I just took the plunge and purchased a nice little Sager Notebook Np5670 (from discountlaptops.com....highly recommended) Anyway, I got it maxed out with a gig of DDR Ram and a P4 and all that...well to skimp on money I purchased it without Windows XP installed and when it arrived, I did so myself. Now everything works great and I love it....but for some reason the modem wouldn't connect to the internet...it would just dial and start to connect...but never finish. Well after about 10 times of that I thought I'd give tech support a shot and he told me it was a bust. Beaten but not out, I went to the company's web site and d/l'd a software program called "modem helper" that runs in the back ground and helps me connect now. (anyone notice the techie didn't know about this??) Well....that only half fixed the problem. I'm only connecting at 26.4 and I want to be back in the flow of things at 44 kbps....anyone got any tips, programs, tricks, patches, vodoo...anything?? Otherwise it's a fine laptop but this is buggin the heck out of me!!!
