Compaq Armada doesn't power off

Hi,
my good old Compaq Armada 7400 doesn't power off when I use the command "shut down"... it only restarts.
Has anyone an idea about how I could make it completely shut down?
thanks

I seem to remember seeing a setting somewhere, either in the OS or in the Armada bios properties and setup utility that allowed you to change the function of shutdown. You could have it shutdown, restart, or restart suspended.

Anybody else remember anything like that or have an idea?

I'vee looked deep in the OS, but couldn't find anything on shutdown.
How can I enter the BIOS?
thanx

Hmm.. Have you ever replaced the hard drive on the machine or Fdisked it? Compaq keeps the setup program for the BIOS on the hard drive of the machine on a small partition that can't be seen in Windows 98 without third party tools. If it's still on your hard drive you should be able to get into the BIOS setup by hitting F10 at the Compaq boot screen.

I've partitionned my drive with F disk. so I probably lost the setup program...
I couldn't know that!
thank you :-)
so I should search for such a BIOS setup. what does that looks like?

Well, actually nothing with the BIOS, just a bug in the batteries manager. one can get the update at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...ate/7_957.html
