Question
can you have to op systems on two seperat drives?

switching out MB's, commen question, have done it before, usually do a format etc.!!! but, if i have one hard drive with win xp operating systems and one that just has files which i could put back on the other drive, can i format the slave drive to the new mb and use the other hd as a slave even though it has win xp on it??? make sense...??? so all in all, i would have new win xp load on formated drive and old win xp load on slave? any answers would be appreciated. thanks

Yes, you can reinstall XP on the drive you want, although I suggest removing the other drive during the reinstall. Then reinstall the other drive. XP doesn't care.

since the slave would have drivers from my other mb and video card etc (putting in a whole new setup) I would have to delete them correct? that wouldn't affect the host drive any would it?

As long as you setup the new drive with the old one removed and then put the old one in as a slave it doesn't matter at all what is on the slave drive. If you leave the slave drive in the system when you install the new operating system on the other drive you will by default get a dual boot system. Once you put the old system drive in as a slave you can delete all of the operating stuff to save space.
