To no avail. changed video card and reseated the memory and cpu {AMD 1800+} I tried outside of the case with memory, cpu and video, still nothing. I cleared the bios i tried with and without hd. still nothing. Can someone help me?

    is it a new board??

Test the powersupply with a multimeter...
Also make sure the red voltage selector is set correctly on the back of the psu... I've heard of people overlooking this b4 and toasting a system.

Aside from that, check your motherboard to make sure its not in direct contact with the case (where it could short)

What type of symptoms are your receiving after you power on. Is the hard drives working (spinning)? Is the hard drive front light blinking? These can be critical issues in determining hardware issues.

If you have just installed this mobo, make sure your riser screws are not grounding the mobo. This has happened to me and I had the Exact symptoms as you are discribing. Make sure to check that.

Can't get mobo to boot to bios

I've been testing it outside of the case and making sure its not touching any metal. Also as far as the lights I haven't hooked up the cdroms and being i don't have the power switch hooked up the lights won't come on. The power supply is good and the red button is in the correct setting. It's the PSU I'm using now on this puter. I also thought about the power supply, its 300w, I hooked it up to my wife's, which is a 400w but same results. My mobo isn't new
The HD isn't spinning. I am gonna try hooking up all the lights and cdroms and floppy to see what happens.
Thx for the quick response, I'll be back later with the results.
    Have a great morning

any jumpers to check? I had this on a new mobo (which i know you don't have) and the clear cmos jumper was set by default to clear. Didn't help that the mobo manual was printed wrong so it showed up that you had it set to the right thing.. sigh.

tried removing the hd and putting a *-rom drive on to see if that powers up? could be a faulty power connector, so equally try putting the hd onto a different one.

Invariably memory however, try different memory if you have any, single slot and try each slot. Other than that cpu - seated, fan fitted happily and spinning - can you try another cpu or that cpu in a different mobo?

have you tried without the video card in to see if hd powers up then?

last thought.. you normally HAVE to have the reset switch installed for the board to work. Might be worth taking all the case connectors off and testing with just power and reset switch connected, also the easiest of all the options to test.
