SATA Hard drive

Hi all.
I will get my new SATA hard drive tomorrow. I have two 80 and 40gb IDE hard drive. I want to install winxp pro in SATA hard drive and use two IDE hard drives for storage. I don't want to setup as a RAID.I am building my first computer. Do I have to install any kind of driver for SATA hard drive? Please help me how can I make it my boot drive. Thanks.

You will need a floppy disk with the SATA drivers. I believe the drivers you need are the Promise FastTrak 378 RAID Driver (regardless of whether you are actually using the RAID functionality or not). From the info, it looks like there is a utility that helps you make a floppy disk.

When you boot to the XP CD, you will see a message at the bottom of the screen similar to: "Press F6 to install 3rd party SCSI device...". So you press F6, and it will prompt you to insert a floppy disk with the drivers. It will read the drivers from the disk, and continue installing windows XP normally.

That should be all you need!
