    Recommend a motherboard

I'm looking into purchasing a new motherboard for my 2600+. I have just found out that my 2600+ was made in week 25, so it should be unlocked. I currently have a gigabyte GA-7VT600-L and it has no option to change the multiplier and doesnt have many other options for overclocking. I'm looking for a board with the NF2 Ultra 400 chipset that is reasonably priced. Around $100 is fine (+/- $20 is ok). Prolly with min. of 2gb ram support, LAN, USB is a must (but what board doesnt come with that?), but I wouldnt mind having dual channel. Extras are SATA and Firewire.

    All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Well this is the motherboard that I am upgrading to very soon. I have built a computer already with it for someone else and I love it. Easy to OC. I heard you want to make sure its Version 2...

The Abit NF7-S is an awsome board. It's one of the best overclocking boards out there.

Hey, thanks for the replies guys. I'm just wondering what it means by "+ MCP-T" and "+ MCP" next to the chipset information:

    Abit
    Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 SPP + MCP-T

    ASUS
    Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP

for only $2 more you get much more features with the NF7-S. to get similar features from asus you'd have to get the A7N8X deluxe (newegg only has -E deluxe for $99)

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yea, I really like all the features the NF7-S has to offer at a fair price.

I think I may get that one.

But before I make my final decision, are there any other suggestions regarding other boards?

I know you're buying an AMD board, but you got to look at this one.

    Dude...Filipino, I'm sorta looking for a Socket A motherboard, not a socket 939. lol.

That's pretty cool how ECS is starting to turn around and offer something for the overclockers. I have an ECS P4VXASD2+ with a P4 2.4 in it and it has been incredibly stable. But I dont know if I would be one of the first people to try it out. Thanks for the link Jerry and a nice find Filipino.

Man, get the Asus A7N8X Deluxe - it has the MCP-T, nForce2, dual channel RAM capable, USB2, IEEE1394, 2 thats TWO Ethernet controllers, highly o/c'able, solid, good board&talk about performance! Got mine for £40 as B grade stock, and it rocks!

I dunno, I've been seeing quite a few threads regarding the A7N8X. May have just been a bad batch.

How about those crazy coloured PCB boards by Soltek? Any reviews?
