ECS Sis 755 Athlon 64 Motherboard...

Ok i was trying to plug in a serial ATA cable to connect tpo a hard drive and when I pulled it out it took the serialATA clot on the board with it. Now there are just Pins where the slot used to be. I rebooted the machine and it works fine (for now) but i was wondering what should I do? will this do harm to the motherbaord having the Serial ATA connector on the board exposed wihtout the black connector plug? In other words, its exposing the actual metal teeth thingys.

On another note, i also tried to connect to the back of the hard drive and when i tried to pull it off, it broke the connector of the hard drive. Its a Western Digital 74GB Raptor Hard drive. it's only 4 months old and i bought it off newegg.com Drive only. Do you think Western Digital will take it back?

thanks!

As long as you dont need to use that serial ATA plug you should be fine. Maybe you can solderit back on? As for returning the drive they might not take it back since its been more than 90 days, unless you get a warranty with it.

also, try to get rid of that drive asap, it seems to be trying to murder your pc 1 part at a time

Just fumble the plastic stuff back onto the naked pins.

Yes, the SATA plug is mechanically crap, in general, not restricted to ECS nor WD. You need to practice your motor skills - and you're not the first to break stuff in this area either.

I really hope they say "you broke it, why should WE pay for that?". I can't believe you try to turn this in as a warranty case. It's not.
