Yes, the lower the memory timings the faster it is |

CAS stands for Column Access Strobe (conversely, RAS stands for Row Access Strobe) and CAS Latency is the amount of delay that you have to wait between the CAS signal and the data being pushed from the RAM pins. CAS2 latency essentially means we have a 2 cycle delay, and CAS3 has a 3 cycle delay: hence the lower the CAS, the lower the latency, and the better your performance.

Since the lower the CL # the better or faster the memory is now for the 2 dollar question is one brand of memory better than another such as kingston, crucial, corsair, rosewill, A-data etc. Since money is some what of an issue here. |

Brand name is a matter of your own preference IMO. I like Corsair but I pay a premium for it. Corsair is known as the RAM which all other enthusiast RAM is compared against though. I guess if it were me, I'd look at Crucial and Kingston.

As i have read in differant threads some memory doesnt work well with some mobos i,ve gone to some of the web sites like cucial and kingston and of coarse they tell me that the most expensive memory is what is compatable with my new mobo |
