Startup problem

Building a PC for a friend and the MOBO will power but wont goto post. Just sits there with fans running but nothing else. No monitor action, but the floppy light is on. I had a similar incident happen with my gaming system rebuild not long ago and was wondering if its possiable that the CPU/MOBO arnt compatable. The board is an ASROCK GE PRO-M2 and the CPU is a celeron 2.4 northwood 400fsb.

The cpu should work with that board no problem

floppy light STAYING on means the cable is on the floppy backwards

first thing I would try is to reseat the video card to make sure it is in the slot good

then maybe reseat the ram

maybe check the manual to make sure the jumpers are in the right palce etc

Exactly correct, cables are backwards, or your RAM is the problem. Give us an update either way when its fixed!

Floppy cable was fine. It was hanging just before POST. I woke up this morning and had the idea of switching the RAM around...and for some odd reason that worked. Now the damn thing will not install an OEM copy of 98SE. gets all the way to copying the setupfiles and then drops to a command prompt. I know this isnt the right board for this so I'll ask in another :P
