| Tweaking system for max performance!
Current system:
ABit KT7A-RAID (BIOS level ZT)
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.2Ghz/266 (no O/C)
2 sticks Crucial PC-133 256meg
RAID-1 array with:
- Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm ATA100
- IBM 60GXP 7200rpm ATA100
Elsa Gladiac Ultra (nVidia GeForce2 Ultra 64meg DDR 4.5ns - no O/C)
Windows 98SE
(etc.)
Ran 3D Mark 2001 and got the following:
3564 - (12.40 Detonator)
3915 - (changed to 23.11 Detonator - 9.85% increase! - 351 points)
4087 - (Tweaked some BIOS settings - 4.39% more! - 172 points)
4137 - (Even more BIOS tweaks - 1.22% - 50 points)
Overall, 16.07% and 573 points!
I think this is good and wonder if anyone thinks I can do better... Any suggestions? (I know - O/C the mobo/video ) |

Well, maybe if we knew what you did with the BIOS... |

Well, you schooled my GF2 Ti and I overclocked the board FSB and everything. I have the same board, running RAID0 though. I thought this board was supposed to have a really good memory and IDE throughput, but SiSoft says I suck.

Video BIOS Shadow - Disabled
Bank ?/? DRAM Timing - Turbo
DRAM Bank Interleave - 4-Way
Delay DRAM Read Latch - Auto
MD Driving Strength - HI
SDRAM Cycle length - 2
Fast R-W Turn Around - Enabled
AGP 4x Mode - Enabled

Looks like you have everything set to the fastest possible settings. Have you tried changing the AGP arperature size?? Sometimes 128 MB will increase performance, other times 32 MB will increase performance. It all depends on the particular card/chipset combo.
The other thing you can try is overclocking the processor and/or video card. But you might have to back off of some of the aggressive BIOS settings or things might get unstable pretty quick. |

Roger that, Ragtop. O/C'd the vid card last night and the NVidia demos started dying all over the place, Q3 was dying, etc. Also changed the DRAM bank timing from "Turbo" to "Fast". Think I've got to change it back to "Turbo" and then play with the card again... |
