What BIOS version do you have ?... check it from the same screen it hangs on..
Does it hang everytime?

Last night I statrted it up and it went to scandisc,I was working on the power the day proir and swithced the breaker off for that circuit. After the scandisk was done it booted ok.I then did a restart and but could not duplicate the problem.
I am going to try "shutdown" a couple of times over the weekend and seen if I can reproduce the problem.
I have emailed Epox and their first response was regarding the temperature of the cpu, they wanted it below 48 deg C while mine is 38 deg C after running for a hour.Their next respones was to run the bare esseintials for the hardware, this is want I have been doing since the upgrade to the new motherboard and processor.
Maybe (hopefully) it will not happen again.
Not sure what Bios, will check later. |

Hi foxtrot
Well, i'm not the only one trouble free with this setup, there are Thud and few members who also are enjoying the same setup ...
I flashed my BIOS from the original one to 8khi1b02.exe that was released on 11/02/2001 ...
It is extremely stable @146FSB .. while it is stable on 150FSB also but only sometimes (once per week) it hangs or crashes .. so now i'm using the 146FSB coz i don't turn off my PC ...
I use winXP Pro and win98 beside Mandrake8.1 ... all of them also stable with almost no trouble ...
The board itself was great and i'm not planning to change it in the near future ... if i want to upgrade i will get bigger CPU ...
If you have any special question, don't hesitate to ask or PM me ...

KenKun,
Got the 8KHA+ w/the XP1600 up and running with no problems,it came with the 11/02/01 bios version.Very happy...have not o/ced yet, figure I will let her have a couple of days to break in.
Actually, the one small problem is with my USB thumbdrive...it was recognized ...went to install the drivers from a floppy, it stopped short and know its in limbo .Can't see it ,and it is not being picked up as unknown device... strange!!USB ports seem to work fine for everything else...Hmmmmm!
Think we will ever see the alleged bios for the 200mhz FSB ????
Thanks for the pep talk!

Hi foxtrot
Glad to hear that you made it successfully ... .. it is a great combo, isn`t it?
About the USB thumb drive .. i think it has something to do with the OS or the drivers itself ... so check for new drivers ..
The board has nothing to do with it IMO because other devices are working properly ....
BTW, it is really a nice idea to give the new PC a little time before start the real OC tweaking

Hey guys,
Does this sound like the problem with my USB ports??
USB devices not recognized nor setting up,or disappear.I think I may have not been paying attention and installed the 108 USB filter drivers when i built the system....am I reading correctly they are not for a 266a mobo????
Can I uninstall???
Wonder why they were on my install cd if they were no good?
Thanks guys!
I probably threw all the drivers from the cd that came with the the old Epox mobo right on the system.
Thanks,
Foxtrot |
