    A7V400-MX won't boot from HDD

     
    I've never run into this problem before and it's really stumping me/quote annoying.

    Here's the low-down . . .

    ASUS A7V400-MX
    Quantum Fireball 20GB
    256MB Crucial PC2100
    AthlonXP 2000+

    With UDMA Transfer enabled, the PC will not boot from the HDD. With it disabled, XP gives an error.

    Try installing XP from the start with DMA disabled. Then you can enable it later. This article may or may not help with the issue:

    Guess it was just a defective HDD. I got a replacement and it works fine now.

    what is the exact make and model of your hdd? My drive broke down on a7v400 mx machine and i replaced it with another model of same make seagate. But it failed to recognize. Can i know wats the model of ur replacement hdd?
