Looking inside the case would work pretty well, I should think...

If you right click My Computer and select properties, it should tell you what kind of processor you have. Unless you're running old Windows, maybe.

Otherwise the mothboard type should be printed on the board between two of the PCI slots.

http://www.cpuid.com/

if you download and run this little app, it might tell you (and us ) a bit more about your system

First of all, is this a homemade or prebuilt system (e.g. Compaq, Gateway, etc.)

Looks like it might be a "FIC AZ 31"

see these threads

http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/9960/

http://www.sysopt.com/userreviews/mb...E_Version.html

Its probably set to take 100mhz cpu's....so you might could go up as far as to the old athlon 1400 as long as it has the 100mhz fsb

or if you really want to experiment you can use a device to unlock the cpu multiplier...that way you can take a 133fsb cpu and just use it at 100mhz fsb BUT you increase the multiplier to still be able to get the mhz out of it

like this http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/200...dapter-02.html

available here http://www.strattoncomputer.com/socketadapters.html

you can try EverestHome to ID it
If it doesn't, you will have to remove the side panel and visually look for the name and model no# silk screened, (painted) on the board itself... or possibly a sticker...
if you can find nothing the next step is MOBOT... it is a search tool that you use by filling in the physical characteristics of the board and it matches up what brands/models match that.... then you just narrow it down by the picture.
or try THIS one as well

wow did I take too long to post...

Another option is CPU-Z (sorry don't have the link to it, but it's easy enough to find).

It worked when I needed to ID an old board.
