Both motherboards mentioned are from highly respected companies, so which ever one you go, you'll be happy...

Hmm... I think the limitation on the MSI board is that the second set of IDE has to be used for HDDs in RAID.... maybe it will work with HDDs.... but I thought I read it only supported HDDs in raid and nothing else... Ill go poke around agian

Nope......you can use the RAID controller as a regular IDE controller. I believe the limitation refers to what you can use on the Promise controller. I've got mine set up with my HDD only on the Promise controller, and the CDROM, and CDR/W on the regular IDE controller. Works fine, but I couldn't get anything but my HDD to work properly on the RAID controller. Each component is running on it's own channel. This is on an MSI K7T Raid Limited Edition, but I set up a 6380 not long ago for a friend the same way.

I just built 10 systems with the Abit KG7-Raid and the 8 that went to the customer are rockin along nicely. The 2 I kept for myself are
screamin.........Go with the KR7 is my vote. The only difference in the KG and the KR is chipset.....KR has a little bit better set.
