Hi
I have a asus k8vse deluxe and I am useing a fan controller to controll my cpu fan instead of the plug on the motherboard. The problem I am having is that when I boot up my pc I get a error that I had a cpu fan error press F1 to continune. Once I press F1 everything goes fine but it is just anoying every boot up to hit F1 to contine. I have looked in the bios but could not find any thing to disable the error. So I am asking for your help if there is something you can suggest or have to to stop this error from coming up.
Also where is the best place to put the thermal sensor on the cpu? Currently I just stuck it in the middle of my heatsinks fins. Just was suggestions where to put it to get accurate readings.
Thanks
Rick |

Hi Ricky,
Check to see if in the board there are two sockets where you can plug the fan. One is for CPU and one is for Motherboard Fan. If you connect CPU fan to the one that is used for motherboard one, BIOS find no fan plugged in CPU's one, as it expects, that's why it returns this error. |

As far as I know this can't be disabled. However, each motherboard/BIOS is different so there might be an option to disable it. It's probably best to just look in the BIOS or the manual.
Also, you're lucky; none of my boards will boot period if they can't detect a CPU fan or it's RPM reading is too low. |

on my bios (Asus A8V-Deluxe) which is 939 model of K8V-SE Deluxe, i had to go to hardware monitor and go on the Cpu Fam rpm box and check ignore. Check with the manual to be sure |

I wonder if it would be possible to "Y" off of the sense line and feed the motherboard and the controller with the signal. I don't know exactly how these fan controllers work but I'm guessing they monitor RPM's and adjust the voltage level going to the fan or send a voltage pulse to keep the RPM's where they need to be.

Sorry for thread hi-jack, but its a little bit relevant. If there is no CPU fan connected to that connector, how do ppl get around it with water cooling?

I was looking in the manuel and found how to turn off the press F1 to continue. Now it still shows the cpu fan error but continues with the booting processes. No need to press F1 to contine. I wish there was a way to turn it right off tho... |

Try what I said above or plug another fan to the CPU fan plug. |

there should be a screan in the bios to monitor everything. the fan speeds and stuff. the spot where it's supposed to say the fan speed....move there and click enter....you may be able to set it to ignore or no fan. there is usually a way to disable it! |
