OMG, another mobo problem.... -_-
Ok, after I got everything hooked up and got it all peachy keen, theres one little thing that I'm not happy with:
When my old mobo was in the comp, I had a nice PCI card which played Warcraft III smoothly.
Now, when I finally run a game (Warcraft III) for the first time on my new mobo by using the same PCI card, it looks like my computer can barely run it/ or its acting like its being run on Integrated graphics. Its gotten extremely laggy!
Anybody have any ideas on whats making it do this? It used to run so smoothly on my old mobo. Is it my processor? Did I apply the thermal paste the wrong way? (BTW, the processor hasn't burnt out, so I feel I put it in right) Or is there a bad connection somewhere. OR do I have to tweak something in the BIOS?
I'm going to get an AGP 8x card soon, and hopefully it won't face the same problem like it did with my PCI card. I just need the PCI running smooth, so I know my AGP will be running smooth too.Mac Mini—2Ghz—2GB RAM—Snow Leopard

My PCI card looks fine, but anything that I run is graphical, Frame rates match to Intel Extreme Graphics. My PCI card was never like this before, ran nice on my old mobo, running crap-tacular on my new mobo. When I run like simple graphical stuff (like my Windows Media Player Visulizations) they eat up the CPU and its a complete video lag. Anybody know how to fix this problem? anybody?

Well what card is it? It's better to download the updated drivers from the manufacturers site.

Ugh, still the same. Any other ideas? The framerates are still playing at the same slow rate. Well, once I get an AGP card, this problem can be overlooked, right?

What about your motherboard's chipset drivers? Did you reinstall those?

You mean the drivers in the installation CD that came with my new mobo? The mobo recognized nearly everything and all I installed was the audio driver and the AGP driver and the DirectX9.0b driver. Do I need to install anything else?
You know, I am running the video from my PCI card right now. Its just been laggy with graphics and 3D. It plays 3D with the quality I've expected with the card, its just the frame rates bogged down since I changed my mobo and it actually looks like running these games are eating up the CPU in such a laggy a manner that it wouldn't have done with my old mobo. Do you think I've applied the thermal paste the wrong way?
These are the options I had in the CD:Last edited by mjolnir1134; May 11th, 2005 at 08:49 PM.

Applying the thermal paste incorrectly won't yield to laggy game performance. It will yield to high temps.
You need to install your chipset drivers. Those should have been on the cd as well. If not, what board do you have and we'll help you find out which ones you'll need. Post back with the motherboard brand and model number.

When you click the link, it'll take you to the download page. You just have to select the location (USA) and click download.

Ok, I downloaded the Universal VGA folder, which apparently came with all drivers. I couldn't install everything, because my chipset is sis648FX, so I installed the AGP driver. I rebooted, and a little pop-up on the bottom right said "detected new hardware, PCI to PCI Bridge, AGP acceleration found." or something like that. Ok, that looked good, but when I tested it with a game, IT PLAYED THE SAME, which is bad. The graphics were still of the same quality, but extremely laggy framerates. This is not how my card played it b4.... what should I go for now?

Should I just wait to get an AGP card then? Hopefully I won't have to face driver issues and whatnot with the AGP card when I put it in my new mobo, right? My PCI seems to be really screwing up.

Are the graphic settings for the game the same now as they were before? High resolution settings will bog down a middle level pc.

Yes, everything was still set the same. Worked nicely in my old motherboard. Then, I changed motherboards (for the sake of getting an AGP slot
), it is working HORRIBLY now in my new mobo. Every game I have in my computer have been set the same way since my first mobo, now my card just magically happens to be a rebel. O_o

*bump* ow I hit my head.
Is there no way to solve this? I might as well suffer a PC gameless period since my PCI card is acting screwy....until I get enough money for a nice AGP card (which will take FOREVER! I only have 20 bucks in my wallet....)Mac Mini—2Ghz—2GB RAM—Snow Leopard

Is it just warcraft III that is laggy? Are all you other games laggy too?
