| Power LED wrong size n MB
I have a MSI KM4AM MB, i have the manuel via msi online & it tells you where to plug the HDD LED, POWER LED, RESET SWITH & POWER SWITCH.
Now thats all easyy enough but the POWER LED on the case has 3 pins & theres only 2 pins on the MB & in the manuel.
Does this matter? i can only plug 2 of the 3 pins on the POWER LED in.
PLEASE HELP ME |

LEDs only have two legs that have the wires soldered on to them. So you only connect the other ends of the wires to the power LED header. Don't worry about the third pin, just find out which is the positive and which is the negative. |

But the middle "pin" is the 1 that is empty so i can only get 1 of the wires at either end plugged in as theres just 2 pins on the mb left. |

I just take a pair of needle nose pliers (or scissors if you have them) and cut out the null connection in between the pos and nutural and plug them in seperatly.

a lot of times you have to change those wires around
in other words if you have a connector with 3 holes and it has 2 wires...and the wires are in the wrong holes to where it doesnt line up to the board....then you can just move the wires to other holes in the connector
I use the point a lockblade knife for that.....if you look on the side of the connector you see where the wire goes in....and it has a little gold contact on the end of the wire where it goes down in the connector....then the connector has a little bitty black plastic "prong" that holds the gold contact in there.....so you have to take the knife or whatever and slightly pry that plasic "prong" or "clip" back so that you can then pull the wire out
it is a little awkward...easier if you have 2 people, lol
what I do is find a way to have the black connector sort of hanging against the edge of the case and I am pulling back slightly on the wire putting pressure on it so that when I pry the clip open the connector is pulling against the case and the wire comes out
then you find out exactly how the wires go on the board before you rearrange them back in the connector
if worse came to worse you dont HAVE to have the connector at all...you can pry the wires out and just put them on the connectors on the motherboard....but the problem then is if the wires become shorted together..because the conenctor keeps them apart
also, if you can find a junked case you can steal a 2 hole connector out of it and use it for yours (go to a comp store and see if they have a junked case..or go thru their garbage, lol)

oh yeah...what Sixpac said will work also...
if the hole is in the middle of the connector, just take a razor blade or something and cut the connector in two right there and use each half seperately |

Green should be positive and white should be negitive.
Either way.. just plug them in.. it wont' damage your motherboard as there isn't enough voltage going through those pins to do so. |

Ok i understand... Is it common for cases to give a 3pin power led when only 2 of them has wires in them? |

Pretty common. I have to cut the Pwrled connector quite often. |
