May I suggest just getting the 3200+ venice core with the DFI Lanparty??
I have that combi with the XP-90 cooler, and she's running @ 2.6Ghz with 1.45V vcore.
This is already faster then the 3800+ and waaaaaaayyy cheaper, since the 3200+ can be had for just under 200 bucks.
My lanparty board has been rocksolid every single way, except for a memory problem, but that's not a normal thing with these babies, I'm rma'ing it.

Well, I spent to much on this stupid dell upgrading it already! I should have just bought stuff from newegg and built one myself! Even though a 7800 sounds awsome, and gives me a rush just thinking about it, well spending $600 on a gpu when my comp costed $400 to start with is not the best. But I did just buy an extra gig of ram today to put in my comp! The next thing is a big hdd, and then in a few years a couple of big hdds, because when it is no longer able to run the newest games she's going to be a server holding all my music, and por... I mean family oriented videos(rated pg!).

When I eventually stop undermining what I want to get...I'll get into overclocking. So that's possible, eh? That's a very tempting alternative, just depends on how in depth and hard core you'd have to go to get to that type of OC rate. Would a n00b like me be able to do it with some help from you guys possibly? |

as mateo leet-o has suggested the 3200+ i thought id throw my .02 out there. have you considered the san diego 3700+. its got twice the L2 cache of both the 3200+ and 3800+ and is clocked at 2.2 gHz compared to the 3800+'s 2.4. 50 bucks cheaper, IMO a better buy. You can always OC the clock speed.
and as far as as mobo, i am a few short days away from ordereing my very own DFI :-). Great OCer as far I can tell from reviews and such. |

instead of a ram with 2-3-3-6 like this one you mentioned. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145450
Get this OCZ 2-2-2-5 < lower timing and only a few $ more http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227211
My recomendations on the mobo would be the Asus, why?
because I have read the manual Fully 2-3 times ( call me a nerd, i dont care )
The DFI looks nice and have no comment but the ASUS has good stability and The SLI on it Is out standing. Why not SLI.
spend the $40 now so when new cards come, pop another 6800gt the SAME probably cheaper and go.
