| ECS K7S5A motherboard.
The reviews I've found for this bargain AMD mobo are positive, but I'd be interested in hearing from users. In particular I'd like to know what CPU you are using, as well as the type of RAM. I'm looking for stability, and I'm not interested in overclocking.
Anyone? |

I had an ESC K7S5A with a Tbird 1.33GHz/266 and 256MB Crucial RAM PC-2100. I had stability problems because the 300W power supply(generic) couldnt supply enough power to GB Jazz Drive. The resistors on the MB are somewhat cheap so just as long as you have a stable power supply that can power everything that you have with "clean" uninteruptable power, you wont have any problems. That is really the only downside to this MB. |

I had an hdd controler prob w/ that board and a 1.33ghz T-Bird with 256mb PC133 Kingston ram. I built a box for my friend though with that board and it runs fine. His is a Duron 950mhz with generic 128mb PC133 ram. |

I have built two systems using this board.
Both configurations are rock stable and I have had no problems with them at all!
Both have 950MHz Duron,
Enlight 7372 Cases 300W PS,
Seagate 40Gg HDs,
and VisionTek Gforce 2 GTS-V
One has Kingston 256 DDR Ram and the other system has two 128Mb dimms from Crucial
Both run Win2k SP2 and both are working on UD! |

My first one was a nightmare because of the el-cheapo Power Supply.
The PS weighed like 10oz, the replacement weighed about 2.5 lbs
The cheapo would only boot every now and then, the replacment worked every time.
I ran SDRAM in both in the end.
One has a 1.0 Duron/Morgan the other a XP 1600+
Audio drivers are scattered between W95 & W98 when using W98 1st ed. |

Have two of this mobo. One running xp1600+ ddr gf2 mx 150 fsb 300w antec ps. The other one is this box xp1700+ 133 sdram ati 128 250w antec ps and only 138 fsb. No it is not the ps or hsf the problem. It is the chip. Guess that is why it was cheap from newegg. Must know it would not oc.

There's a high RMA rate with this board. I guess that's the price of having a low price, you may want to be prepaired to send it back for another. |
