From the MSI K8N Neo4-F spec page:
On-Board IDE/SATA
• An IDE controller on the nVIDIA nForce4 chipset provides IDE HDD/CD-ROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA133/100/66 operation modes.
- Can connect up to 4 IDE devices
• NV RAID supports 4 SATA ports (SATA1-4). Transfer rate is up to 150MB/s.
• NV RAID (Software)
- Supports up to 4 SATA plus 2 ATA 133 Hard drives
- RAID 0 or 1, 0+1, JBOD is supported
- RAID function work w/ ATA 133 + SATA H/D or 2 SATA H/D
So the answer to your question is the motherboard only supports ATA133 IDE drives. |

Crap this was making me believe that it might support ATA-150
• NV RAID supports 4 SATA ports (SATA1-4). Transfer rate is up to 150MB/s.
Well this is gonna suck. There doesn't seem to be such a big variety of ATA-133 drives on Newegg. I might have to reconsider this board althought it looked like a good one for begginers. |

Look into getting a SATA drive. There's plenty of good fast one's at Newegg. The IDE ATA150 HDD's will work, but at only the ATA133 Transfer rate. |

Well hells bells! I just checked out the HDD you linked to. It's a Serial ATA 150 (SATA) drive. It's perfectly matched for the MSI K8n NEO4-F. Here I thought it was an IDE drive. Teaches me not to check out ALL the supplied links! |
