| Abit KT7 Raid and issue with RAM
Ok.. my friend has had a Abit KT7 Raid motherboard and says his board doesn't work well without ram that is cas 2...
Is there pure cas 2 ram out there that will work in this motherboard?
I am not sure if he is feeding me bull but I think that plain jane cas 3 ram should work fine in his board?
An excerpt of his email to me:
"Well 'sixpac' since I already spent the money on 256 megs of Corsaire CAS2 why defeat the purpose by putting CAS 3 in my system, besides the only time my system has been rock solid has been when I only have CAS 2 installed. A crash can cost me several hours of work if the file is corrupted. "
I have not been able to download a manual for this board but what ram should he be using.
price is not an option for him.. .he will spend as much as it takes.
sixpac

Funny you should mention that Kendo,, and You may have saved me some big headaches.. I posted about some problems with a board a while back doing page putrid stuff.. I'm gonna pop the side and see what I have in there for sure,, cause I have some of each, and I'm too old to remember where everything is.. |

mushking recommends when having stability issues and all slots are populated that one stick may not be working in harmony with the others and use two and interchange to check for the problem
generic usually runs at CAS3
different brands usually bettter to use CAS3 |

arugh... now he sends me this email: Quote: | I did read the newsgroups prior to buying the board 'sixpac'. I have had 0 system crashes since buying the board about a year ago When using only high quality CAS 2 ram. When I have tried adding CAS 3 ram both Micron and Ramjet thats another story. |
Hmmm... Hope he reads Paul's site.
