Which chipset drivers are best
My son has an MSI KT2 Combo VIA KT266A Chipset based motherboard. He just did a clean install with winXP SP2.
When the install was finished it sppeared all was working fine including VIA controller drivers installed provided by Microsoft (obviously part of winXP)
What I'd like to know is whether there is any advantage in installing the VIA chipset drivers that came on the motherboard CD or just leave the Microsoft drivers as they seem to be working fine.
cheers

I would go to MSI's website and look for updated drivers. Certainly since that is an older board.

Just use the latest ones from www.viaarena.com - even though they're not being tested (much) on their older chipsets, they still support them. I've just put them onto a KT133 board ...

went to the MSI site and grabbed that latest drivers for this board. They seem to be the latest VIA drivers as well.
There were no exclamation marks in device manager which is why I wondered whose chipset drivers were the best - default MS or VIA.
At this stage can't notice any difference in performance but will see.
Thanks for the help guys.
cheers
