Ok so I bought ASUS A8N-VM today and I really am not a computer expert by any strecth but i know a good deal about them. Assembling one? Not really. SO im putting a new MB into a mass-produced HP computer. I bought a new processor and everything. Ok so I was taking my time making sure everything was right. Plugs were where they should be and everything. Sooo I ran into a speedbump when I got to the front power connectors....blah Its like all my buttons are jumbled up into one big black rectangle thing to fit right in. Im very dissapointed because I cant seem to get this to work. I really would like to get it to fit into this lare 19 pin f panal but it wont. Im just exhausted. Please help |

Welcome!
You've run into a typical problem with "branded" computer cases. To speed up assembly (with the mainboards that are supposed to be in there), they don't have separate wires for all the front panel stuff, but just one big connector block. The matching mainboards are made to fit that exactly.
Now, what can you do? Cut that big thing apart, figure out what's what and then go trial and error, or call it a day and use a generic case instead. |

Yup, Peter's right, if decided to buy a new case rather then the trial and error route you may need a new power supply as well because that HP probably wont fit in the new case. |

hey its me again. I called it a day, got a new case. I was so happy because with the new case installing was such a breeze. I put in everything and i go to plug in the PWRSW 2 pin cable in the right spot and nothing! NOTHING AT ALL!!! The green light still comes on indicating that there is power going through my MB...but OMG IVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY DOING THIS AND IM GETTTING REALLY FRUSTRATED. Sorry....Im just starting to wonder why I got myself into this mess. What could be the problem?? |

Power completely removed from PSU, triple check all connections, make sure PSU power to board is properly connected in both places, reset the motheroard bios, power up and try again.
If no go, power removed from PSU, remove all extra cards from motherboard (stuff in the pci slots - connect monitor to integrated video), reset bios, try again.
If no go, power removed from PSU, remove all extra cards from motherboard (stuff in the pci slots - connect monitor to integrated video), remove all drive cables from motherboard, reset bios, try again.
If no go, power removed from PSU, extra cards and drive cables still removed, reseat memory and cpu, double check cpu heatsink and fan, make sure fan is properly plugged in, reset bios, try again.
