Noob wants to build a pc

    Hello,
Ive decided to build my first pc. So ive come to ask for some guidance.
Well to start off the Pc will be for gaming an over clocking.
im lookin at AMD an something thats noy going to be outdated tommarrow. Im lookin to spend $1000 USD or most bang for buck.

I stopped by a computer show today to see what they had.
So i picked out parts that i thought would be good.

    M2N-SLI Deluxe mobo w/ amd 64 x2 4600 $330.00 for both
    eVGA 256-P2-N554-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB $165.00
    Seagate 160g sata $75.00
1 gig ram some cheep stuff $100
Case with PSI, they reasured me that the PSI was more than strong enough
    Cd/dvd rw 18x

came out to $800.00 + tax USD

So is this a good build? except for the ram i probly go with corsair.
    any other recomandations?
    thanks in advance

yeah i was going to get a new one later on. they werent dropping in price if i didnt take it. I figured it be good enough to get it booted.
I did do alot of searches on the mobo an processor but i got confused with all the debated responses.

thanks for that option for the psi.

I don't trust people that say it's so good and whatnot...they are most likely just trying to sell their product...<.<...

Well i got what i posted above. So im prepareing my case. I have the standoff in an the i/o shield. My question isDo i need to put cardboard washers down, between the stando ffs an the board or on both sides of the board or none at all?

I went to asus site an checked there forums some said yes some said no or just on one side. I dont have enough washers for both sides of the board. there is metal dots arounf the mounting holes. they look to stand 1mm tall.

    Ps
was there a sticky on this forum of how toos? I thought i saw one but i cant find it. If that was at this site. Looked at so many sites lately arg.

You don't actually need all the screws and standoffs to screw the mobo to the I/O sheild. All you really need is two. (Most prefferabbly the ones at the top of your mobo but make sure that mobo does NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH the CASE) I would use as many carboard washers with as many screws you have and say the hell with the other screws. But if you follow my advice pair two washers per screw, that way your covered front and back.

say you got 8 washers use 4 screws. 2 at the bottom of the board and 2 at the top. Hows the mobo going to know if you don't have all the scews connected to the I/O shield? Jus make sure that the screws and standoffs are strategically placed on the mobo.

By the way using cardboard washers, sounds like an alternative to using standoffs to me. Hell why couldnt they be plastic like the standoff, why cardboard unless the standoffs were metal. Forgive me for ranting, Im just trying to learn.(oh and if your standoffs are metal, they go between the standoffs and the mobo for sure)

EDIT: Actually I take back the part about just having 2 screws connected to the MOBO and the I/O shield. I just built up my 5th system a few mins ago and I'm having grounding problems with just 2 screws holding it to the case. So I highly recommend, if you have enough screws and enough cardboard washers, to put the cardboard washers in between the standoffs and the motherboard. And do this with all of the motherboard's case holding screw holes. Works flawlessly.
