I am a newbie out here please help me. I want to upgrade my computer. Two persons suggest me two different processors and Motherboards. First person tells me to have the AMD athlon 64 bit processor,4000+ with ASUS motherboard
and other one says me to have the Intel Dual core processor with 2.2 Ghz with Intel Mother board. With both i am going to attatch 1 Gb RAM and 80 GB hard disk.
Please tell me which combination from the two will be better for me as i just want to play games and want to make Internet downloads of the games. |

firstly, what sort of ram are you adding to the motherboard/cpu setup? is it a sata or IDE hard drive?
what is your budget, and other system components? for internetting and games, either setup would be fine, in which case i would consider going into the AMD direction, as it will be cheaper than the intel setup. but you need to give us examples of the games you'll be playing too? are there any other features you would look for in the motherboard? there are plenty of other branded mobos out there for both cpu configurations. you will need to provide us with much more information before we can help you any further...

To put it very simply, it doesn't matter. But your RAM had better be DDR2 with the new MB's. Do you have a graphics card? |

you shouldnt consider "upgrading" to a better single core processor. Do yourself a favor and skip higher end single cores and go straight into dual core processors. A core 2 duo is going to perform far better then a Pentium Dual Core processor, a Pentium D, or a Core Duo. An Athalon 64 X2 is the dual core AMD chip.
Either way, depending on what your building from, as everyone previously pointed out your going to need to replace things like RAM, Video Card, and other components. If your using older IDE drives, upgrading to SATA will boost your bandwidth from 100mbs on an older IDE channel to upto 3GBs on SATA II drives.
I would consider doing a little research online, google is your friend, and find a site on building your first computer to get a good foundation going for any future questions. |
