So yes, the Phenom 6000+ will work once you get the AM2 adapter board.

I'm not too sure if the board will support the Phenom.
Just cause it'll have AM2 then, doesn't mean that a Phenom will run on it.
And besides, if he wants to go Phenom, don't go cheap ass on the motherboard, it will be seriously hampered by the older architecture, so just get a decent AM2 board, they are not all THAT expensive, and put a Phenom on that.
And btw, I see everyone talking about the Phenom 6000+, but wouldn't that be the Phenom 9600?? I don't recall there being a 6000+ Phenom. That's still Athlon x2 numbering.

| I didn't even pick up on that one. The new 6000, 6050 and 6250 that are supposed to be out later this year are phenom based, but none are quad core. Quote: |

| Might as well throw the $30 at a board you know will have support for the am2+ cpus not to mention the potential for future upgrades. Nothing worse than throwing money at a dead end! It might work with the processors listed above but AFAIK it would have to be am2+ compatible to run anything quad core and I believe it would even have to be am2+ based to run those.

Its already been stated, but:
1. Phenom 6000 Quad does not exist ATM.
2. Nowhere does it say the ASROCK mobo supports Quad-Core CPU's. |

I have that board and I think it just supports AM2. You'll need new memory too (DD2). |
