Good find on the 9600, I'd go with that.

It depends on what you want to use the computer for, but if you want to do any gaming the 8500 is a terrible card. I learned this lesson a long time ago; it is easier to bottleneck your system at the gpu than the cpu. Now if you intend are doing more processor intensive than graphics intensive applications (encryptions, burning dvds etc) than go with the better cpu. Plus, the e6600 is an outdated chip, go with the e6550 or 6750 (170 and 180 respectively) much faster chips for much less money.
Also, you don't hear many people recommending intel boards, and the board you point out has integrated graphics, which you won't need if you are getting a vid card.
I would strongly recommend going with an allendale core chip (e2xxx) it will save you a good amount of money, and they overclock well because of low fsb and high multipliers; and putting the money from the chip into the gfx, you won't regret it.

No, I would not go with that. Get a cheaper CPU, DDR2 800 ram, and at least an 8600 GT.

For a power supply, you could go with the 400w Forton.

An additional question, the important one: what do you intend to primarily use this computer for? Please be specific because different uses lead to different hardware configurations.

7300GT is crap if its for games...

I wouldn't go for anything less than a 7600GT (256MB) and still be capable of playing many newer games on low to mid settings.

mighttus- start your own thread. It's pointless to add to a several month old thread.
